Adjust the seasonings to suit your taste. This is The Best Southern Fried Cabbage Recipe I’ve ever had, and I’m sure you’ll love it as well.

Soaked chopped cabbage

This recipes starts with soaking your chopped cabbage in a large bowl of salted water. Soaking your veggies in salt water removes most of the residue that’s normally on the surface of vegetables.

Next, you’ll cook a few pieces of bacon then add onions, and bell peppers, and cook until vegetables are tender.

Add red pepper flakes, and ground black pepper. Give it a nice stir before adding your chopped cabbage. To give your cabbage an extra boost of flavor, add brown sugar. Yes, brown sugar. You’ll thank me later.

Add the chicken broth to the pan. Cook, stirring occasionally for 25 minutes, or until the chicken broth evaporates.

Before removing pan from heat add hot sauce, and stir. Serve this smoky, and savory cabbage as a side dish or with this Crispy Mustard Fried Chicken Thighs.
